Aren't controllers also being used today by the vast majority?

A "no brainer"?

Oh, the irony!

Any idiot with an internet connection can start a blog, submit it to N4G and call himself part of the gaming media. Journalism has nothing to do with it.

This is flamebait, pure and simple. The author is implying that such a glitch is absent from the Xbox version, when he probably didn't even play that version. Lots of games have glitches, since even before the NES. They're the result of software coding errors and have nothing to do with the hardware. Must be a slow...

I guess that makes it 300 copies sold already. lol

There's no Xbox 360 version of GT5. That makes it a no buy for you.

I think the folks at Digital Foundry do a great job when analyzing the tech aspects of exclusive games or just one specific version of multiplatform games. But when comparing 360 and PS3 versions, their true colors start showing. Like when they claimed "Bayonetta PS3 is inferior because the hardware can't handle it" and a couple months later "FFXIII on Xbox360 is inferior because it's a lazy port and doesn't do the hardware justice".

But yeah, ...

@ hallmark -
Can you, in your infinite wisdom, prove that any PS3 game would look better on the 360? You seem to know more than all the devs who actually make the games, so why don't you show us something to back up your claims? And how do you explain that the best looking console games are on the PS3? You say that FFXIII was slapped together at the last minute for the 360 and that's why it looks worse? And you really believe the same thing doesn't happen on the PS3 even m...

All previous DMC games rendered at 60fps. Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta are also 60fps, because it's considered the ideal frame rate for very fast games that require quick reflexes and low input lag. Even GoWIII renders with 60fps as the target and 45fps as average.

And it's not just that. That specific frame rate is now a part of the franchise's indentity and gameplay.

This news just adds to my scepticism towards this new entry in the series.

@ sony360 - FFXIII renders at 720p on the PS3 and 576p on the Xbox360 during gameplay, curiously the exact opposite of Dead Rising 2. The cutscenes (which are the part of the game that you mentioned) are native 1080p on the PS3 and still 576p on the Xbox 360. If you call that a "slight resolution gap", then you're going to need an electron microscope to spot the differences in gameplay. For both FFXIII and DR2.

So you're trying to tell me that during the last five years, the reason why not a single game on the Xbox 360 could match the visual quality of Uncharted, including Microsoft's own first and second-party efforts, is because they simply couldn't be bothered with it?

Alan Wake must be the slowest quick buck I ever heard of. And you have the nerve to talk about common sense?

I think I'll wait for all the episodes to get bundled together and sold at a discounted price.

Yeah, off-screen footage always looks as good as direct-feed. I don't even know why some websites bother with HD capture stations. Must be for the bullshots and not to show us how the game will actually look on our screens. /s

Don't you just love it how the headlines for all the articles on those sites always include words like "stunning", "incredible", "gorgeous", "impressive", no matter how underwhelming that stuff really is?

Well, if there's a trustworthy bunch out there, it's hackers. I mean it's not like they would say anything to intentionally harm the reputation of the company they're stealing from, the same company that has been actively battling said hackers in and out of court./s

@ RememberThe357 - You say there's been a GT game virtually every year, while other users on this site claim that we've been waiting for GT5 for 6 years. Which one is it?

GT games since 2006 = 2 (across 2 platforms)
Halo games since 2006 = 4 (across 1 platform)

Just saying.

There was a time when 720p was the standard for HDTVs and 1080p was an added premium feature. Now, most HDTVs are 1080p and stereoscopic 3D is an added feature. Starting to see a pattern here?

The only reason I'm not bookmarking this article so I can bring it up when GT5 and Kinect release, is because these numbers come from VGChartz.

VGChartz European numbers are just about as reliable as Kotaku's sources on youtube.
